Dear experts, I installed Solution Manager 7.2 SR1, upgraded it to SPS05 and now want to add a Diagnostic Agent. However, I cannot make the Software Provisioning Manager accept my kernel download for the Diagnostic Agent installation.

I tried kernels 745 and 749, but the only 2 files that get accepted are the below from the SPS05 upgrade directory: All files in the kernel download directory are ignored despite I can see in the logs that they have been detected and their manifests extracted: NFO 2017-06-10 15:46:58.877 (S12SM72 Administrator) (startInstallation) bas/bas/749REL/bc749REL/src/ins/SAPINST/impl/src/cdsrv/SignatureVerifier.cpp:362 SignatureVerifier::openDU DU at 'C: Users Administrator Downloads 51051432' is not signed. Hi, The SAP program 'sapcar.exe' is SAP's own compression tool. The old program used to be called 'car' and the newer tool is called 'sapcar.exe'. There is no real difference between a 'car' and 'sar' the files are decompressed with the following syntax: sapcar -xfv.car sapcar -xvf.sar This syntax is explained in many sap notes, I have found the help attached to the sapcar.exe program very helpfull. I have sapcar.exe. Which swich to use (not explained in help) c, x, t, d, a.? SAP likes to be identified for the software that they create. It's good 'branding' (they are very consistent about it. And so it makes sense that they would prefer.SAR (SAP archive) to.CAR (maybe 'compressed archive'?
Or in German?) SAPCAR.EXE already has 'SAP' clearly identified. RegardsFrom: D.

I have sapcar.exe. Which swich to use (not explained in help) c, x, t, d, a.? In the past SAP developed the tool and named it CAR. The extensions of all compressed files were named '.CAR' as well. In SAP release 4.6C SAP decided to enhance the functionality of the CAR utility a bit. Therefore, the internal structure of the compressed files slightly changed. Because of this, it was necessary to create a new extension.
There the new extension '.SAR' was born and the new utility was named SAPCAR. The new SAPCAR utility can work with both formats (.CAR &.SAR). The older version CAR can only decompress.CAR files. So, it is advisable to switch - even in older releases - to the newer toolkit named SAPCAR, because SAP sometimes delivers even for older releases SAR Files already.
